Microscopy Artistry at Drexel Materials Characterization Day

We are excited to announce that the Drexel Materials Characterization Day on May 14, 2025 will feature a Microscopy Artist Contest, highlighting the intersection of science and art through your imaging work.
We invite you to submit artistically modified scientific images that showcase your research.
Submission Guidelines:
- Generative imaging (AI-generated visuals) is not permitted.
- Submissions may be made individually or as a team.
- Each person/team may submit up to three entries total. (A team submission also counts toward an individual’s submission limit.)
- Accepted formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, or TIF, minimum 300 DPI, and no larger than 10 MB per file.
Each submission must include:
- A title
- A brief description (maximum 100 words) highlighting both the scientific significance and artistic appeal of the image
- A statement of ownership confirming that all parts of the artwork are original (not included in the word count). Use of generative text is allowed.
- Description of equipment used (tool/instrument/software) as well as the composition of the materials.
Entries will be evaluated by our contest committee.
A special prize featured by Thermo Fisher will be awarded to a submission that features work done using the Thermo Fisher Apreo 2S SEM.
